I am going on a cruise on the liberty of the seas, any suggestions about shore excursions?

my stops are San Juan, Labadee and St Martaan, the shore excursions are quite expensive and i don't know if I should book them now before I go or wait until I get on the ship, not sure what would be cheaper. In St Martaan, can we just get off the ship and go for a wander around or do we have to be on an organised tour? The ship is the liberty of the seas, any replies would be appreciated

Answer :
Just cruised on the Liberty this past November. Your itinerary is a good one not to do tours. In San Juan you can actually walk through the old San Juan city area and also Fort Cristobal right from the ship. The only way you need tours is if you want to go to the beach or to the rain forest. The ship should dock right by the twon at the new pier and you can just walk where you want to go.

In St Maarten you'll need to take a water taxi to town (or walk a long few miles). As I remember the water taxi is $4.00 round trip. When you get to town you are just a block off the main shopping street and there are a few casinos there too. If you want to dip your feet in some water there is a beach, very small and not private, right by the town. If you want to find an internet cafe, there's one about a block from the beach, right off main street, fee is only a couple dollars an hour.

Now Labadee is Royal Caribbeans private island and while the tour book will list lots of things to do that require a fee, you can just get off the ship and grab a nice spot on one of the 3 or 4 beaches available on the island (actually a peninsula). They have plenty of chairs and shade trees and there is a craft market on one end of the island. They have a free tram to carry you to the other end of the island if you don't want to walk. About 11:30ish they will have free lunch ready at the pavilion; typical picnic stuff. So just plan to enjoy a day at the beach when you get to Labadee. Bring your own snorkel equipment so you don't have to rent that. Explore on the island.

Answer :
On any cruise ,DON'T BOOK SHORE EXCURSIONS WITH THE SHIP. When you go ashore you will find local people in EVERY PORT that will take you to any shore feature for their location at HALF the price you would pay to the cruise line. You can pick up the various shore excursions across from the purer's office on the ship and pick out what you are interested in, and you will know the cost the ship is asking. When you go ashore offer any of the local tour guides 50% of what the ship is charging.

Answer :
In San Juan, you definitely don't need a tour. You can easily walk around the town. If you get tired, there are free trolleys, running up until 7PM.

You might want to take a tour of St. Martaan. That way you can see the French and Dutch part of the island, and hear about the history, culture, etc. I was there recently, and found an excellent guide at the dock. Don't book a ship excursion. They are always more expensive than what you can get at the dock.

Of course, you do not need an excursion in Labadee. I have not been there. But I understand that you can lie on the beach, and get fed for free.

Hope you have as much fun as I did.

Do You Think Liberty Mutual Meant These Words When They Chose This Song For Their Commercial?

"Half Acre" by Hem

I am holding half an acre
torn from the map of Michigan
and folded in this scrap of paper
is a land I grew in

Think of every town you've lived in
every room you lay your head
and what is it that you remember?

Do you carry every sadness with you
every hour your heart was broken
every night the fear and darkness
lay down with you

A man is walking on the highway
A woman stares out at the sea
and light is only now just breaking

So we carry every sadness with us
every hour our hearts were broken
every night the fear and darkness
lay down with us

But I am holding half an acre
torn from the map of Michigan
I am carrying this scrap of paper
that can crack the darkest sky wide open
every burden taken from me
every night my heart unfolding
my home

Answer :
I doubt the decision-makers ever heard the whole song or listened to the lyrics. The tone of the song is what you pick up in the commercial and it works. I'd seen the commercial at least 30 times before I ever noticed the lyrics.

Thanks for identifying the song!

Answer :
I will vote for Rock Climbing in The crags near Los Angeles and San Francisco. It will be very fun to go there again! Rock climbing can vary in cost. For bouldering you just need a pair of shoes and a pad. Sport climbing will need more technical equipment, traditional climbing will take a lot of more equipment. I can assume you will need 200 bucks to thousands of dollars, depends on how you want to pursue climbing

Answer :
Nice list. As it happens, I've done quite a bit of it. I'm working toward repeating those I most liked.

Except for the travel options, I don't see anything which can't be done in California.

The tallest roller coaster is in Jackson, New Jersey. But since the Statue of Liberty is also a goal, that can be combined (it's in New Jersey, not New York).

Sharks aren't particularly easy to scuba with in California. I've done shark dives in many places in the tropics, and along the west coast. Galapagos is definitely the best of the shark drives.

Swimming with dolphins isn't 100% legal in the U.S., but a trip to Sea World and volunteering can possibly create an opportunity with some in captivity. I swam with wild dolphins in Canada where there is no Marine Mammal Protection Act. It was especially nice when the dolphins chose to swim with me!

You've got several pending trips: Australia, Italy, Acapulco. Germany, Vienna, Egypt, Africa, and China. A cross-country road trip which includes Orlando, Chicago, and New Jersey. Piece of cake. Rome to Vienna to Munich is each an easy day of train travel, or a very quick flight. I've driven it several times, but driving takes so much longer because I can't help stopping for scenic villages along the way.

What is the drinking age on Royal Caribbean Cruises?

am am traveling on the Royal Caribbean cruise - Liberty of the Seas to the folowing locations - Miami, Florida; Labadee, Haiti; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico; Miami, Florida

I was wanting to know the drinking age onboard as my best friend has just got back from a similar cruise but with Princess cruises and her drinking age on board was 18.

Thank you.

Answer :
The legal minimum drinking age on all cruise ships departing from US ports is 21 years, and that does not change when in international waters. It is carefully enforced, and bartenders who provide alcohol to those under age 21 are subject to immediate dismissal. All drinks are charged to the passenger's ID/key card issued by the cruise line, and the age of the passenger will be apparent to the bar. The ID/key cards are issued based upon the passport or birth certificate. Fake IDs are of no value on a cruise ship. Passengers are free to drink on shore if they meet the minimum drinking age on shore.

Answer :
The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on all Royal Caribbean ships is 21. However, on cruises departing from European and South American countries, where the legal drinking age is typically lower than 21, a parent who is sailing with his or her son(s) and/or daughter(s) who is between the ages of 18 to 20, may sign a waiver allowing the 18 to 20 year old to consume alcoholic beverages.

Hope I helped!

Answer :
I found all the information that i needed before my cruise at http://www.cruise.co.uk/, It helped me discover what age i had to be on every ship to drink and all other interesting and useful information that i need.

Answer :
The age for drinking for any cruise ship that leaves from an American port is 21, not 18. Now you can drink in Jamaica at 18 while in port, but NOT on the cruise ship. This is universal except for some cruise lines that are leaving from a European port. Then you can get permission from your parent to drink wine or beer. BTW, there is no way to use a fake ID either on the ship, they check your cruise card every single time. Princess is NO different then Royal Caribbean or Carnival, or Celebrity, etc

Poll: What's the best vacation you've ever experienced?

Last summer, I went on the Royal Caribbeans' Liberty of the Seas, the biggest cruise ship ever built. It was a blast. What has been your'e best vacation?

Answer :
It was on a royal caribbean's cruise about 4 years ago. The whole thing was absolutely amazing, but the best part was zip-lining 100 feet in the air through the rain forest.
That was a once in a life time chance.

Answer :
The best vacation I have ever experienced would have to be the time when my brother and I went to visit my uncle in Washington D.C. I was 16 at the time and my brother was 19. We visited all the city's monuments, went to a Nationals game, and a whole lot more. But I think the thing that made it the most memorable was the fact that my uncle let me and my brother drink as much beer as we wanted. I could only drink like one bottle back then...

Answer :
it wasn't really a vacation,
but i'd been chatting to a girl the same age as me over the internet for a while, we have like everything in common and she's always been there for me. she's an amazing friend and i love her to bits. she's one of my best friends.
we always talked about meeting up, she lives a 4 hour drive away and we decided to meet up in a place called Somerset. we met for the first time, and spent the day in Somerset (Minehead) at the arcade, beach, and just walking around. and we went in this cute little cafe.
it was freezing cold as it was the middle of winter.
it wasn't that long ago. i'd love to meet up with her again :)

- amazing day <3

but at the end of Summer im going to Paris! so excited, because Paris is like my favourite place in the entire world. i've never been before. but im obsessed with the place. i better practice my French ;D
im going to see the Eiffel Tower and the actual Moulin Rouge, which is my favourite movie so it'd be great to see the actual place.
